Wrap your belongings: Protect your furniture with strong shrink wrap, bubble wrap and tape that you can find at any major hardware store. This keeps your stuff safe from wear and tear, and also cuts down the price if you do it before the moving company gets there.

Be through: How much stuff do you have? If you underestimate, you could be renting a truck one size too small or setting yourself up for a budget which overruns with a moving company.

Be at the move: Whether it’s a group of friends or a moving company doing the heavy lifting, nothing should go anywhere without knowing where. You are responsible for making sure everything gets on the truck, yet keep your involvement to a minimum.
